Is an equipment model enough to identify a replacement wear plate?
It is a useful reference, but include the part drawing or measured dimensions and the specified plate material. A model name alone may not identify the grade, thickness or shape required.
Can a harder plate replace the specified material?
Keep the specified material as the starting point. If you want to consider an alternative, have the responsible equipment or design team review it before the order is changed.
