External Coatings

External coatings for spiral pipes protect the pipes from corrosion, abrasion, and other environmental factors. And there are various types of coatings applied externally for enhancing the durability and longevity of spiral pipes:

• Fusion-Bonded Epoxy (FBE) - FBE coating is applied by heating the pipe and electrostatically applying epoxy powder. Once cured, it forms a tough, corrosion-resistant layer.
• Three-Layer Polyethylene (3LPE) - This coating consists of an epoxy primer, adhesive layer, and outer polyethylene layer, providing excellent corrosion protection.
• Three-Layer Polypropylene (3LPP) - Similar to 3LPE but using polypropylene instead of polyethylene for the outer layer, offering additional resistance to higher temperatures.
• Coal Tar Enamel (CTE) - CTE is a traditional coating that provides good corrosion resistance but is less commonly used due to environmental concerns.

Internal Coatings

Internal coatings for spiral pipes are designed to protect the inner surface of the pipes from corrosion, erosion, and the effects of transported fluids. These coatings are essential for maintaining the integrity of pipelines and ensuring the smooth flow of materials.

• Cement Mortar Lining (CML) - CML is applied to the internal surface of pipes to protect against corrosion and erosion in water and wastewater applications.
• Epoxy Coating - Internal epoxy coatings provide corrosion resistance for transporting corrosive fluids.

Concrete Weight Coating

Concrete weight coatings are protective layers applied to pipelines or other underwater structures to provide additional weight, stability, and protection against buoyancy. These coatings involve the application of a layer of concrete around the external surface of the pipe. The primary purpose of concrete weight coatings is to prevent pipelines from floating in underwater environments, such as river crossings, offshore installations, or subsea pipelines.
